Ruling BJP MLA from Bhind in Madhya Pradesh, Narendra Singh Kushwaha, cornered his own government on Wednesday and sat on a dharna outside the official residence of the Bhind Collector along with several supporters and farmers, alleging a lack of fertilizers for their crops.

Kushwaha reached outside the bungalow of Bhind Collector Sanjeev Shrivastava and sat on a dharna outside the main gate. He alleged that farmers were being unduly harassed for fertilizers, and despite waiting in long queues, the peasants are not being supplied fertilizers from the government distribution centres.

A heavy police force, along with senior officials, also rushed to the spot to control the situation. Bhind SP Asit Yadav, ASP Sanjeev Pathak, and ADM L K Pandey reached the spot and tried to pacify the enraged MLA.

Meanwhile, the protesting farmers charged that they have been standing in queues outside cooperative societies since midnight, but were able to get only one or two bags of fertiliser at the most. They claimed that despite repeatedly appealing to the administration, no solution has been forthcoming.

The farmers also alleged that fertiliser is easily available in the open market at high prices, raising concerns about black marketing.

MLA Kushwaha alleged that the Collector has issued an order that each farmer would be given a maximum of two sacks of fertilizers only, which is very less.

He cautioned that if a solution was not reached and the farmers were not provided adequate fertilizer, as per their needs, the agitation would intensify.
